Book:
The Information by Martin Amis (Flamingo Books, 1995)
Text: Using a kilometre of string and about four rolls of sellotape, Richard bandaged his package together. It was ready to go. Over a cognac he began to contemplate the fateful, the exalted challenge of delivery.

The amis I am friends with is "Money."
Impossible because I don't have a blog and don't know three people with blogs whom I can tag, and inconvenient because I'm sitting in the center of a semicircle of books. (And what if it had been the Codex Seraphinianus? I'm just saying.) Picking at random from the pi-times-arm's-length arc of comfort words, we find, "The solution is:
URD LLD RRU LDL URD RUL DLU URD RUL DRD LUL DRU", from Martin Gardner's Time Travel and Other Mathematical Bewilderments, and I assume there's no need to continue with that.
Selection two, from Will Cuppy's How to Attract the Wombat, is a bit more like it: "Well, his brain would be so much larger that he would be able to wonder how far a man could jump if he were only one-twelfth of an inch long. If men were as small as Fleas, it would be pretty discouraging. So maybe things are better the way they are."
Zero down, two to go.
